The Birches at Villa Rica has partnered with Inspiren, a cutting-edge healthcare company, to bring real-time insights to the dedicated caregivers in our memory care neighborhood. Using AUGi, a wall-mounted smart device that stands for “augmented intelligence” in each resident’s apartment, our care team can provide the right care at the right time and mitigate the risk of adverse events like falls. The Birches at Villa Rica is proud to be one of a select few senior living communities implementing AI-powered fall risk-reduction technology in order to provide memory care residents with an extra layer of protection.
A new standard in fall prevention.
Using multiple sensors and software contained within the device, AUGi analyzes room activity and notifies caregivers if it detects a safety concern. If the system detects movement patterns that match specific rules, such as lying on the floor, it automatically alerts care staff of a potential fall. If the system detects activity that is out of the ordinary in a senior care setting, such as getting out of bed unassisted in the evening, it notifies the care team of a potential issue.
The around-the-clock information from AUGi offers caregivers visibility into high-risk moments and the ability to intervene — while still preserving residents’ privacy through deidentified images. This technology also helps caregivers avoid having to unnecessarily disrupt the resident’s sleep through virtual check-ins. This proactive approach is meant to enhance, not replace, our community’s existing safety standards and practices.
